2024 Beads of Courage Colour Festival Fun Run in celebration of Doug Gillespie

06/02/2024 09:00 AM - 12:00 PM CT

Description

The Beads of Courage Colour Run in celebration of Doug Gillespie benefitting Beads of Courage-Canada is an un-timed 5 km event open to people of all skill levels. Participants will pass through colour stations, accumulating colours on their bodies - symbolizing the colourful strands of beads these courageous children use to tell the stories of their medical journeys.

The course is planned for the beautiful Lakeview Park in Saskatoon. The run will begin at 9 AM on June 2, 2024. Participants should arrive early to enjoy the atmosphere and get ready to run! The wheelchair and stroller-accessible course will be lined with stations where volunteers will throw coloured celebration powder (made from cornstarch) at those participating in the run.

About Doug Gillespie

Doug was instrumental in the establishment of Beads of Courage-Canada. It was largely through his efforts that Saskatchewan became the first province in Canada to launch Beads of Courage. Doug's memory will live on through not only the Harvest Bead that was dedicated to him in 2014, but his passion and determination is woven into every program throughout Canada.
